I tend to cram a lot of free-association-of-thought in my drafts, just to get the ideas out there, and then keep a lot of it through the revisions as "texture" when, in the end, it's just gotta go. I think I can relate to how you let your characters whisper the next scene in your ear. Mine sort of do that, only they often forget to use an inside voice and aren't opposed to hitting me over the head when I'm not listening.

Can't wait to hear more about Seven for a Secret. =)Cherie Colyerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13205065477147957455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1273756139055186208.post-36209998246232941972014-06-02T14:51:18.218+01:002014-06-02T14:51:18.218+01:00Good to get to know you better in this post, Rumer...Good to get to know you better in this post, Rumer! I found the editing process so helpful for improving my writing, and I hope you have the same experience. Yes it stung when a few of my favorite passages hit the editing room floor (I tend to write uber-long stories) but it was better for the book. Best of luck with Seven for a Secret!Jennifer Lanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13300124780126853962noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1273756139055186208.post-69942265828526886662014-05-31T20:53:46.706+01:002014-05-31T20:53:46.706+01:00I never plot in advance either, and I think that h...I never plot in advance either, and I think that helps me finish my stories. And aw, a smelly hug gets me every time.

I think there's something poetic in your past-periods being more romantic than the present times. Like, have we lost the ability to be truly romantic? Or was it never really that way but we have a need to beleive that everything we're too cynical to beleive in now at one time existed? Well, that's way to philosophical for a Friday.

Thanks so much for meeting my challenge.
